About Elleqin
Hi, my name is Elleqin. I know you’ve probably never heard it before, and if we were meeting in person, you’d probably be telling me how eloquent it sounds, or that you’ve never heard it before. My mum and dad were insanely creative; they found an elongated version of the name in a fairy encyclopedia, changed a few letters around, took some out, and created the name I couldn’t be prouder of.
I grew up in a small town at the bottom of WA called Denmark, where I was surrounded by music, the beach, and the arts. I love creating, whether it is photography, videography, painting, crocheting, drawing or singing. No matter what form of art, I have always enjoyed the journey of creating something that could speak to anyone who looked at it.
The Journey
My first photoshoot was when I was seven years old. I took photos for my mother’s band to use for advertising, running around the drummer’s backyard with an old phone and telling them where to stand.
Skip forward to adult me, I met another photographer shooting the gig I was at. We started playing around with a digi-cam, taking photos of the bands, and then he handed me his professional camera and told me to take a few shots. Everything clicked into place. It felt right, like a new door opening, and I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
I bought a Sony camera the next week, and that was that. I began writing a destiny through visuals, photos that provoke emotion and videos that help people escape reality, even for a second. Within a few weeks, I had booked my first client.
Photography has pushed me into experiences I never thought I’d have. It has taken me on adventures to incredible places around the world, all in pursuit of creating something meaningful.
